Pray for us!

We know God has plans for our lives. He has brought us together with our unique testimonies to share with others the gospel of Jesus Christ.

"But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear." 1Peter 3:15

Don't Pick Fights

In one of my tougher Bible study questions this week on the life of David, I was asked to write about a time when someone was out to harm me. Then I was asked to explain what I did about it. (See Facing the Giants by Max Lucado) I am not really sure I have ever felt like someone was out to harm me physically, but I am sure that many have attacked my character. I praise God that He knows my heart, and is a God of second chances. He forgives- AMEN!
From looking at David's life, we know that there were many times that he had to fight for His life, but God was always with him. He relied and depended on God, and in return God gave him victory over the likes of Goliath and Saul.
As a Christ-follower, don't we have the promise that God is always with us?
The answer is yes!
If God is for us who shall be against us!
The problem is with picking fights.
We can have the right convictions and be right on the issue, and our heart and attitude can be wrong. There is nothing uglier that someone with a right position, but with an arrogant attitude.
God does resist the proud and gives grace to the humble.
See what Paul writes-
"And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will." 2 Timothy 2:24-26

All of us have issues and convictions that we do feel strongly about. If we don't have anything worth dying for then we surely don't have anything worth living for. We must live the truth and not just talk about it. We are called to stand up for what we believe, but our attitude and heart in how we approach our beliefs is critical.
The Word of God is our line in the sand. It is the inerrant, infallible, Holy-inspired, God-breathed Words from Yahweh. If God can create the universe with a word, and sustain the heavens by His will, then we should not have any issues with believing that God can write us a supernatural, living book of HIStory which is filled with His prophecies, all of which have come true except for Jesus' second coming. AND, He is coming again!
If anyone tells you otherwise, simply disagree, explain your faith in God and His Son Jesus Christ who died for your sins, and then walk away. You don't need to argue. If they have more questions, you can do your best to answer them with your Bible in hand and grace and mercy in your heart.
The Holy Spirit is your power, and the gospel is the message.
Tell the truth and be kind as we express ou convictions with Christlike tenderness. Our goal is not necessarily agreement but a restored relationship with God.
