Pray for us!

We know God has plans for our lives. He has brought us together with our unique testimonies to share with others the gospel of Jesus Christ.

"But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear." 1Peter 3:15

Praying for Obama

As Barack Obama took the oath of office on January 20, 2009, he had his left hand placed upon a Bible that once belonged to Abraham Lincoln. Our 44th president was to make a promise, an oath, to "faithfully execute the office of President of the United States of America."

Unfortunately, Chief Justice Roberts bungled through it, originally leaving out "faithfully", then trying to add it, he left out "execute". I am sure nerves were the cause of this infraction, but I started wondering about how much severity was actually placed on this mishap. Well, it just so happens, a "do-over" was scheduled for Thursday. They said it very slowly, almost jokingly to keep the stress lowered; this time they spoke without any missteps, and sadly without a Bible. The oath is binding. He is our President.
I pray he really did consider his words as he placed his hand upon the Word of God.
"The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD; He directs it like a watercourse wherever he pleases." Proverbs 21:1

The picture here to the left is of our President and guests singing with a children's gospel choir. They are singing, "He's got the whole world in His hands." My heart is at peace because of this sovereign truth and promise from our Lord. I pray that God will bless this country, change the President's heart on issues that don't square with God's Word, and that faith in Jesus will be come a cornerstone for our country during a great awakening. I pray this because I know that it can happen if it is our God's will. Please pray it with me. Thank you Lord for our country and our freedom to worship you. We give you all the glory, all the praise! You are the KING of kings and the LORD of lords.
We love you. Amen.

Praying for you a Blessed 2009

Happy New Year!
Those words come to me almost too easily. It seems to have become a regular, seasonal part of our vernacular just like Merry Christmas (along with the phrase, "Happy Holidays").
But, I want to say that I really do wish and pray that we all have a blessed year. Our country has been through some difficult times this past year. From the financial crisis to the war on terrorism, as well as the attack on conservative Christian beliefs, we have been fighting daily battles for many months now with very little relief in sight.
But, the good news is really the "good news". The gospel of Jesus Christ shines a light of hope into our dark world. I can't fathom to think where we would be without our Savior.
So, please remember there are many people, a majority of Americans, that do not lean on the Lord, but on man. Take time to share with all those who may listen about your abundant life, your only hope, the one and true God of all creation.
Thanks be to God for His Son- Jesus Christ!
Happy Eternity! (I love the sound of that!)
